Marine search and rescue Services at RCL
RCL provides aid to people in distress at sea, involving agencies like coast guards, navies, and voluntary organizations that coordinate and conduct rescue operations using boats, helicopters, and other assets. These services are organized globally under a system of search and rescue regions, and national centers, such as the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), coordinate responses to distress alerts. The primary functions include receiving and relaying alerts, coordinating responses, and conducting SAR operations to save lives.
Our Marine Search and Rescue Support include:
- Receive distress alerts: Maritime SAR centers receive alerts via radio, satellite, or other equipment, then acknowledge and relay the information.
- Coordinate response: Once a distress is confirmed, the responsible center coordinates the rescue operation, which may involve multiple agencies.
- Conduct operations: SAR teams are dispatched to the location using appropriate assets like rescue vessels, helicopters, or aircraft for air-sea rescues.
- Provide medical aid: Onboard medical staff provide immediate treatment, and in severe cases, medical evacuation can be arranged.
Core Training and Operations
AT RCL, Our Marine search and rescue (SAR) training involves specialized courses that cover everything from operating boats in harsh conditions to advanced search planning, and are available for both professional responders and recreational boaters. Key areas include understanding SAR procedures based on international standards like the IAMSAR Manual, developing on-scene command skills, and practicing techniques for locating and recovering individuals in the water.
